Hogging at Sweet Posse
Hello My Fellow Chatoras,
I’ve been keeping too busy with too many reviews and I’m happy with the fact that Bhopal is growing in terms of food. Hence, so much of reviewing! 🙂 There’s so much to explore and the Food & Beverage industry in Bhopal is about to Boom!!
There was a place I searched long time back when I was moving back to Bhopal from Bangalore. Making a list of places to visit and Zomato certainly helps a lot. A very attractive name and pictures caught my eye and it was on my to-do list to visit. Time went by and I forgot about it, but look at the destiny. Out of the blue moon, the owner of this place messaged me and I was clueless that it’s her cafe as she was a friend from media. I finally, planned and fixed a date to make a visit at her cafe (Sweet Posse) and therefore thought of writing about it on my blog since it’s a good place and not known much by the Bhopalies. While, I would want people to visit at least once and experience the food over here.
Very Economically priced the good news is that Sweet Posse hits the sweet spot on all counts. The bad news is, if (like me) you live in Old Bhopal or City Centre, it’ll take you 45-60 mins drive to Hoshangabad Road, Near D Mart where it is located. Of course that doesn’t apply to all of you; living around here. This place is easily accessible via google maps too. 🙂
Decor: Teeny Meanie cafe with painted walls, yellow & blue bulbs, small tables and chairs, quirky Sign of their name. More like a patisserie but giving a proper look of a cafe too. Look for party props and click loads of pictures while you wait for your food. Just Like I did! Haha! 😀
Rose and Khus
Sip on this cooling Rose & Khus Drink on a hot summer’s day, and you’ll realise what ambrosia tastes like. The Khus syrup when combined with Rose essence, lemon juice and chaat masalas is such a refreshing drink that you will feel as if every cell in your body is rejuvenated by it.
Pink Panther
Though the actual Pink Panther drink is made up of Strawberry, Pineapple and whipped cream this was all together a new version of this drink. Strawberry slush along with soda fizz, ginger and Indian chaat masalas makes it a sweet and spicy drink. Goes well with you starters.
Nachos
Something to munch on is certainly required. Nachos with Salsa sauce was just the right thing. The best part what I liked was that the salsa dip was freshly made. More on the Indianized version, served hot and made us salivate.
Crispy Tawa Aloo Chaat
This popular chaat finds its origin by the lanes of Delhi. Tawa Aloo Chaat, has the perfect blend of spicy, salty, sweet and sour flavours. Marinated potatoes are stir-fried till golden brown. Sautéed in a tawa to give it black colour. Coriander, mint, chillies and chaat masala spice it up and merge beautifully with the potatoes. Absolutely Mind Boggling!!
Paneer Cheese Frankie
Frankies have become more and more famous and popular all over India. Frankies and wraps and rolls are becoming part and parcel of our fast lifestyle. I had this Paneer Cheese Frankie over here and it was Irresistible, scrumptious and mouth-watering. The spicy and flavorful marination of Paneer or Cottage cheese placed in roti and makes it more tempting. The best part what I like about this particular Frankie was that the paneer or cottage cheese was fresh and soft.
Vada Pav
Firstly, I would like to give some extra brownie points to this place for keeping Vada Pav on their menu. People who’ve known me for a while also know who crazy I am for Vada & Missal Pav. They just won my heart by making me try out Bombay’s very own burger. The vada is made of a spicy potato filling deep fried in a gram flour batter. Along with a hot and spicy garlic chutney, it is served inside a small “Ladi Pav”. Try it and you’ll love it! 🙂
Momos
Momos are something my younger sister loves like anything. While, I’m more towards the Japanese side of loving the crystal dumplings. But, I certainly cannot say a no to momos. Also, a lot of people need to know the difference between Momos, Dimsums and dumplings. Momos are native to Nepal and Tibet. Steamed momos are quite a trend these days and no one is complaining! Made with a refined flour dough, momos are filled with an assortment of fillings ranging from vegetarian to non-vegetarian served with a dipping sauce. This vegetarian momo is a delicious assortment of mixed vegetables. An apt combination of garlic, ginger, green chillies and Schezuan sauce flavours the vegetable mixture, and the outcome is simply tongue-tickling! I was a little disappointed with the Momos as they were a little under-cooked and the vegetables filling inside was raw. But, I loved the spicy and mayo dips that came along. But, I see a scope of improvement and hopefully during my next visit I get to taste something even better.
Chocolava cake with Ice Cream
Dessert is mostly referred to a final sweet course that concludes a meal, but those with a serious sweet tooth will agree that anytime is dessert time. Chocolate Lava Cake is a dessert that everybody love and makes quite a sensation every time. With its gooey, chocolatey, molten center along with Ice Cream this was a sure shot winner for me. The burst of chocolate lava from the middle of the cake can melt any chocolate lover’s heart! 🙂
Chocolate Milkshake
Every time I hear the word milkshake or even if I am making one for myself at home the only song that comes to my mind is “My milk shake brings all the boys to the yard, And there like, Its better than yours….. !!” Yeah…You know the jazz! This rich and creamy Chocolaty Milkshake made with milk, chocolate -ice-cream, chocolate and cocoa powder will be loved by all chocolate lovers.
Something more you can look forward to are Cake Pops & Cupcakes!
My point:
This place serves almost everything and is Pure Vegetarian. From a full fledged thaali meal to Italian pasta. Indian chaat to sweet bakery delights. I was asked to try the Kadhai Paneer and Laccha paratha too, but I was down with fever and had issues with my appetite. But, my next visit to this place calls for all the things that I wanted to try earlier. I certainly look forward to visiting this place again and would want all you Bhopali People to do the same. It’s a small cafe and very economically priced. Since it’s not heavy on pocket and the youth of Bhopal is looking for Good Food, this places deserves all the appreciation. The only issue is the location. But, I guess it’s so much affordable to travel to this place rather than booking your tickets to Delhi or Bombay to relish the street food over there! Isn’t it ?? 😛 😉
Try yourself and share your experience with me.
Till then Happy Hogging!
