Origano at Courtyard by Marriott, Bhopal

Ciao a tutti,

You guys must be thinking that I’ve left writing and updating my blog. Well, that’s not true. The lockdown has affected our lives in such a way that all of us have become so laid back and lazy. Come On! You can’t deny that. Having said that, a lot has happened in 2020 especially during the lockdown. It personally affected me and my family in a way we never imagined. I lost my Grandpa during this time and it took us time to get back a life living without him. The reason I still mention about my grandpa is because the love for food that I have is all because of him. He’s been an inspiration in so many ways. Nevertheless, we have to get over things in life and have to live with it. Another thing, I would like to mention here is that this Covid-19 has got such fears in our head that I personally have been very hesitating to step out. I do get a lot of invites but again who maintains that level of hygiene would always remain in my head. When I got an Invite from Courtyard by Marriott,  for the launching of Origano at Courtyard by Marriott I finally agreed to step out because I know they would maintain all the safety and hygiene. (Saying this from personal experience because I’ve worked there in the past).

Not to Forget, 22 July 2020 , Origano, the new alfresco dining area was launched which is just outside Bayleaf. You remember Bay Leaf was launched on (22nd Aug 2014) right? Things have been changing a good way and I’m glad that they finally have a place specially dedicated to Italian cuisine which I love the most.

What I just missed was Chef Sarvesh. I have been a constant visitor at Marriott and Chef Sarvesh and always amazed me with his skills.

Nevertheless, I was dinning out after 4 months and I couldn’t be more excited.

Italian Food at Oregano

Italian Food at Origano

Talking about the Italian food that hits on top of the charts on my favourite cuisine list. I am a person who loves authentic Italian rather than the desi styles incorporated these days. Dined at few finest restaurants in India like Mezzo Mezzo, Romano ’s, Alba, Toscano, Alto Vino, Bene, Chianti and many more. I have always been a bit particular about this cuisine. Well, Bhopal sure has an Italian specialty restaurant but I look for more options and authenticity from what I have learned through my experiences of dining at various Italian restaurants.

Coming to New Dining Space which is all decked up with live stations to give you a short trip to France and something you would want to come back to every day. One thing I want to appreciate about the menu is that, since Bhopalites or rather I should quote Indians are more into going fusion style and adding extra spices and Indian touch to things, just in case you don’t like authentic Italian which is bland, you can also try the fusion versions of Italian food or get it customized as per your choice.

Olive Oil, tangy tomatoes, fresh basil, roasted mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, the aroma of garlic simplest ingredients bringing in the finest taste and world-class cuisine.

Thick slices of bread grilled, rubbed with garlic, drizzled with olive oil and topped with the simple ingredients is a fresh, simple and delicious Italian appetizer.

Welcome Drink

Italian Coffee: I asked the staff members and they didn’t really had a name for the coffee but as far as I know it was very close to caffe shakerato because it was frothy, cold coffee drink.

Italy has a unique coffee culture. Shakerato is a refreshing, lightly milky drink that is made by combining freshly made espresso, simple syrup, and lots of ice, then shaking it vigorously until a froth forms when poured. It is usually strained while being poured into a martini glass or another stemmed glass. So, 95%  I am correct but I might be wrong as well since I was told the exact name.  Haha

Tomato & Basil Bruschetta:  Sweet, seasonal tomatoes along with basil are such a perfect pair. This classic bruschetta is worth all the praise.

Minestrone Soup: One Pot Vegetarian Minestrone Soup was comforting and delicious. It was packed with lots of flavors and vegetables! This warm and filling soup was served with some fresh crusty bread.

Aranchini: Coming from the Sicilia region of Italy, Arancini are delicious, crispy, deep fried Sicilian balls of rice. Arancini makes the prettiest appetizer. Rice, cheese, garlic and herbs, breaded and fried until golden brown, served up with marinara and a dusting of grated cheese.

Wood fire Oven Pizza: P.S. Thin Crust – Check!! Thin crust pizza is perfect for a pizza lover like me who prefers to taste more of the sauce, cheese, and other toppings.  But somehow I was a bit disappointed with the pizza only and only because they had sprinkled some herbs on top along with salt I believe which kind of ruined the whole taste and feel of the pizza. I have had pizzas at Marriott before but this was the first time I was a bit disappointed.

Mushroom Ravioli: Ravioli is a type of dumpling made of plain flour dough, stuffed with cheesy, mushrooms. It is then topped with white sauce and cheese, seasoned with chili flakes, and baked till the topping melts and coats the Ravioli. The first bite itself takes you to heaven. Must Try!

Gnocchi: Gnocchi’s plump, pillowy texture and mild, delicate flavour makes them perfect for rich, hearty sauces. These versatile Italian dumplings are beautiful Pillowy soft potato gnocchi that were nestled in a vibrant sauce peppered with chewy bits of pancetta and tons of basil. A comforting  meal packed with rich Italian flavours.

DOLCI

Tiramisu: Tiramisu is one of my all-time favourite desserts. Tiramisu is made in the classic Italian way, with mascarpone, espresso-soaked ladyfingers, eggs and marsala wine.It was Creamy, rich, and was bursting with bold coffee flavours.

DOLCI

Chocolava cake: The chocolava cake and accompanied with ice cream was just so drooling! The hot chocolate dripping out of the cake and the mix of classic vanilla ice cream is worth every damn thing!

The menu has excellent options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians and unquestionably has more than what you just read here. What I love about the Italian style of cooking is the gentle use of seasoning and spices. Everything is done ensuring that the core ingredient stands out.

An excellent opportunity for Food lovers of Bhopal to learn and explore Italian cuisine.

Till then, Happy Hogging!

Thank you Team Courtyard by Marriott for the invite.

I look forward to coming here again.
