Musical Sunday Brunch
Sunday’s should officially be declared as lazy days! Most of us are hungover and hungry. Breakfast is missed, and waiting for lunch is too much to expect. In the current era, the most obvious thing you all must have noticed on the weekends is the Sunday brunch. The concept of Sunday Brunch comes in where it’s a mix of two meals i.e. Breakfast and Lunch, a couple of glasses of mimosas or sangrias and call it a day. Brunches are faithfully attended by people looking to calm a hangover. It’s a perfect way to soak the sins of Saturday, get your belly bursting and your brain bustling. I am a dedicated admirer of this concept, and when I was invited to the Musical Summer Sunday brunch at Courtyard by Marriott, Bhopal. I couldn’t say a no! π
Courtyard by Marriott, Bhopal launches the Musical Summer Sunday brunch, bringing to the city’s gourmands, a chance to relish a relaxed brunch on a Sunday with a lavish buffet, unlimited chilled drinks to chase them down with and the strains of live music by soulful singer Faraz Hussein filling up the lively surrounds of Momo Cafe.
Kind Notice: This post is going to highlight more pictures because the spread was huge. π Also, this time I arrived a little early just to take pictures of the buffet because almost every time I get late and pictures of the Set buffet doesn’t come out well.
The brunch at Courtyard by Marriott, Bhopal had live counters and buffet spread, completely indoors so just sit back with your favorite drink while listening to by soulful singer Faraz Hussein and chill in that AC. π π Well, this also means that the dessert counter greets you at the entrance of the restaurant, and you know right away what you want to keep space for. π #ReallyChatoriTalking π
Chaat and Street Food Counter
Apart from the “eye catchy” dessert counter, next thing to catch your attention is the lovely Chaat Counter serving absolutely lip-smacking chaat such as Dahi Puri, Pani Puri, Dahi Bade, Chole Tikki, Papdi Chat, Bhel Puri etc. That’s not all, binge on some Bombay Style Pav Bhaji, lip-smacking Kebabs, and Garma Garm crispy jalebis.
Moving forward towards the soup, salad and live grills section, I had a hard time selecting what all would fit on my plate. π
The variety of bread and cheese is worth trying. Edam, Feta, Camembert, and Cheddar.
Since the spread was huge and I tried a few of them and took in smaller quantities just for the fact that I don’t miss out anything.
Salads
The salads and cold cuts are my favorite way to start on a buffet. I absolutely loved the variety of Salads that were on display. They also have buttermilk, aam pana etc to help you digest those appetizers.
Masala Chass
No one can stop with just one glass of this tantalizing version of buttermilk. Chaas is an old time favorite drink and is a nice way to digest a large meal. A delicious spicy buttermilk ideal to have before the main course.
Drinks
A brunch is incomplete without good drinks to accompany your meal. One can have unlimited drinks at the brunch and I managed to have not 1, not 2, not even 3 but many. I don’t even remember the count. LOL, π Loved it majorly because it’s summers and drinks were super duper refreshing! I filled my stomach mostly with drinks and appetizers.
The Starters
Continuing my culinary journey of a perfect Sunday with a delectable and exquisite brunch, I next moved to starters which included Paneer Tikka which was splendid and an exotic dish with exceptional flavors, engulfed in the marinated paneer cubes, onions, and capsicum dices. The crispy vegetable which was a Spicy Indo-Chinese starter with a hint of ginger and garlic, these crisp-fried veggies are a delight to bite onto. Seasoned Crispy Fish which was prepared in Chinese style spicy sauces and absolutely crispy and Tandoori Chicken which was chunks of Chicken legs marinated in yogurt, lemon juice and aromatic spices grilled to perfection.
Vietnamese Rolls
One of the very famous Asian dishes is a perfect appetizer for a summer lunch – fresh spring rolls or also called summer rolls. These rice paper spring rolls filled with vegetables and herbs are served with some insanely flavourful sweet and spicy peanut sauce. Vietnamese paper rolls are full of fresh flavors, light, healthy, crunchy and taste amazing.
Momos
A popular street food in India which is originally from Tibet and Nepal. I personally am a huge fan of momos and I was overwhelmed to see authentic momos at the brunch. They are satiating, versatile and are sure to delight your palate. Courtyard by Marriott, Bhopal as specially hired the chef from north-east region to make authentic momos.
P.S. For all those people who used to say Momo cafe doesn’t serve momos ?? Now, they do at the brunch! π But, the name Momo was never really kept on this food item.
Pasta
At the live pasta counter, I ordered Pasta in arrabbiata sauce with some extra broccoli. For once, it did not amaze me. It was a bit salty maybe because of the extra broccolis I asked for. I have had way better pasta in the past at Marriott itself.
Soya Chaap
A delicious North Indian delight and looks like a non-vegetarian dish but is completely vegetarian. Soya chunks perfectly marinated, along with Indian spices and then cooked in a Tandoor. The smoky flavor of these Soya Chaap was just Ahhhh-mazing!!
Kallappam
Kallappam is a traditional breakfast of Kerala which is a spongy and soft rice pancake served with Kerala style egg curry. Brilliant!
I repeatedly ate few of these appetizers again and again and filled my stomach. But, I still had the audacity to go in for the main course. Took them in lesser quantity just to keep a little space for my favorite part of the buffet.
Main Course
Stir Fry Veggies in Hot Bean Sauce
This dish had bursts of flavors. Stir-fried colorful veggies perfectly cooked in hot bean sauce. It’ll tease and appease your taste buds. Relish it with Fried rice.
Singaporean Fried Rice
Rice stir-fried with vegetables and a mix of Chinese sauces are an absolute delight. I paired it with the Stir Fry Veggies in Hot Bean sauce and it tasted brilliant.
Kadhai Paneer
A tantalizing dish with an aroma of spices cooked with tomatoes, capsicum, and onion giving it a good texture. This flavourful dish paired with buttery naan is oh, so good! π
Dal Makhani
Oh, this is my favorite! You must be aware by now! π Dal Makhani which was made with Red kidney beans and black gram, cooked with ample amount of butter and particular spices making it rich, creamy and luscious.
Chicken Curry
A typical Indian dish, chicken cooked in spicy aromatic gravy. I was very much full so I took just the gravy which I ate with naan.
Dum Ki Biryani
The rice was cooked on low flame and therefore the aroma & strong flavors along with spices did the magic. Loved it!!
Some other items on the main course menu were Stir Fry, Baigan ka bharta, Masala Bhindi, Fish curry, mutton and veg pulav.
Kuch Meetha Hojaye!
Courtyard Marriott, Bhopal has a huge range of desserts. Few items from the desserts section were Banoffee pie, Cup Cakes, brownies, fruit cake, Swiss rolls, red velvet and pineapple pastries to name a few.
But, what caught my attention was the Indian dessert section. So much to binge on. From pedas to ladoo. Form Rasmalai to Lauki ka halwa. I enjoyed every bit of it. I took a mix of Indian and western desserts and majorly enjoyed the cold desserts thanks to summers. But, that was totally worth it. They also have ice cream counter. But, I was high on sugar by then so I skipped the ice cream this time.
I had an incredible time at the brunch and I completely enjoyed. The food was gorgeous and drinks were revitalizing.
The Sunday brunch at Courtyard Marriott, Bhopal begins at a great Rs 1500/- AI for a non-alcoholic brunch add INR 500/- for the alcoholic brunch. Good food, live music, a dedicated kids play area are the ideal factors that constitute a perfect Sunday Brunch with family and friends!
