Brunching Babe – Winter Barbecue Brunch at Courtyard Marriott Bhopal
Hello Chatoras,
It’s my favourite season of the year and can you make any guesses as to why I love Winters?? Yes, Sweater Weather is cool fashionably, but for me, it’s the food! Winter is one such season when almost all exotic vegetables are available and having warming and comforting food in this cold weather is absolute bliss. It’s that time of the year that I eat a lot and reason that I feel lazy too. But, bribe me for good food and I’m sold. Quite literally! Lol 😀
Talking about Winter there’s nothing prettier like a wonderful Sunday brunch on a sunny winter afternoon. After all, unwinding with friends and folks over lavish buffet is indeed a memorable way to end the weekend. Sweater weather is great because now you can relax in the sun while sipping on your favourite drink, relishing a meal peacefully without the hot sun actually bothering you. The days have become pleasant and therefore I headed to Courtyard by Marriott to experience their “Winter Barbecue Brunch” at MoMo Cafe.
The brunch features an International cheese counter, salad station, exotic seafood bar, Momos counter, Live Goan cuisine counter, antipasti counter, a freshly baked bread station, and Indian and Western delicacies and many others to choose from. Not to forget the bar and dessert section which is specially decked up featuring winter special delights.
Drinks
What is brunch without some good drinks? Often at the inception of creating brunch, a success lies equally on the shoulders of the bartender as it does on the chef.
One can have unlimited drinks at the brunch and I managed to have quite a few as I had a bad throat and a running nose. Thanks to the weather! 🙂
Welcome Drink:
Mimosa:
A mimosa cocktail is composed of one part champagne and one part chilled citrus juice. It can be called as an official drink for a Sunday Brunch. 🙂
I had some 2 glasses of it because I love Mimosa.
Last but not least was an unnamed but beautiful looking drink which I got it personally curated because by now I know and have learned what I’d like to have with my meals. 😛
It was made with cranberry, lemon juice, a hint of strawberry slush, white spirit and Soda Fizz. Looked pretty and tasted wonderful. The Best Drink to be precise. You can add white sprite. That’s totally up to you to get it customised!!
Starters
Paneer Tikka: A splendid and exotic dish with exceptional flavours, engulfed into the marinated paneer cubes, onions and capsicum dices.
Tangra style chicken: Boneless chicken is fried and tossed in schezwan sauce. The schezwan sauce made the chicken very succulent and flavoursome.
Vegetable Dumplings: A Spicy Indo-Chinese starter with a hint of ginger and garlic, these crisp-fried vegetable balls are a delight to bite onto.
Awadhi:
One thing Marriott excels at is the Quality and the texture of Kebabs. I tried two kebabs Mutton Galouti and Veg Galouti and I Kid you not. Both of them melted in the mouth. Somehow I felt that Veg Galouti was wayyyy better than the mutton galouti leaving me questioned that how did this actually happened?
Chat Counter: Apart from the “eye catchy” dessert counter, next thing to catch your attention is the lovely Chaat Counter serving absolutely lip-smacking chaat such as Dahi Puri, Pani Puri, Chole Tikki, Papdi Chat, Bhel Puri etc. I gave it a skip because of my sour throat but I really regretted that because I am a huge fan of street food like every other girl. 😛
Jalebi: Do I even need to describe this? Who can resist the temptation of piping hot, deep-fried jalebis garnished with aromatic saffron strands especially in winters?
Momos: A popular street food in India which is originally from Tibet and Nepal. I personally am a huge fan of momos and I was overwhelmed to see authentic momos at the brunch. They are satiating, versatile and are sure to delight your palate.
Kal Dosa: Kal dosa is popular dosa from South. It is typically made and served in the hotels and is usually thicker as compared to the traditional set dosa. Spongy and melt in the mouth dosa is served with chutneys, sambar or stew.
Mama Miaaaa!! Italianooooo!!
One of my all-time favourites cuisines is Italian that I make sure is included in my brunch.
Ravioli: Ravioli is an Italian delicacy. A mix of spinach, cheese, onions, oregano, basil, salt and pepper filled between two sheets of ravioli pasta. It was topped with freshly cooked tomato sauce. Ravioli was dainty, succulent and flavoursome. I just Loved it!
Pasta: Sugo all’arrabbiata or commonly known as Pasta Arrabiata is a spicy Italian pasta sauce made with garlic, tomatoes and red chilli peppers cooked in olive oil. This lip-smacking Penne Arrabiata was a real champ, because of the perfect texture and because of the use of some cheerful herbs and some cheese too.
Salads: The salads and cold cuts are my favourite way to start at a buffet. I absolutely loved the variety of Salads that were on display. I particularly enjoyed the Greek Salad & Chickpea salad. Roasted Apple & cherry tomatoes along with boiled broccoli are also worth trying.
Live Grills: Continuing my gastronomic journey of a perfect Sunday with a delectable and exquisite brunch, I next moved to Live Grills in the alfresco dining area just outside bay leaf and I was so much thrilled already that I moved my table outside for a more peaceful and breathtaking Sunday brunch. They have a plethora of choices in live grills so you can Choose your own veg/non veg and let the chef do the magic for you. The Tandoori Chicken, Grilled Fish and Paneer Tikka are highly recommended. Proportionately marinated, well textured and grilled to perfection.
Main Course:
You guys must be thinking, do you even have some space in your tiny stomach?
Well Yes, a little bit to at least taste everything. 😛
Mopu Tofu: This dish had bursts of flavours. It’ll tease and appease your taste buds. Relish it with Fried rice.
Malaysian Fried Rice: Rice stir-fried with vegetables and a mix of Chinese sauces are an absolute delight. I paired it with a bit of Chicken in Ginger Garlic Sauce. Beautiful combination.
Paneer Butter Masala: A tantalizing dish with an aroma of spices cooked with tomatoes, capsicum and onion giving it a good texture. This flavourful dish paired with buttery naan is oh, so yum!
Murg Handi Korma: A typical Indian dish, chicken cooked in spicy aromatic gravy. I was very much full so I just tasted the gravy.
Dum Ki Biryani: The rice was cooked on low flame and therefore the aroma & strong flavours along with spices did the magic.
Some other items on the main course menu were Potato Lyonnaise, Red Thai Curry, Aloo Bhaja, Bhindi Burji, Corn Crushed Fish, Mutton Rogan Josh and Veg pulav.
Desserts
No better way to end the feast with tempting and alluring desserts, which were handcrafted to perfection. By, now you must be having an Idea that in-spite of binge eating I still manage to have a special place for desserts.
Courtyard Marriott, Bhopal has a huge range of desserts with Chef Vinkal and his team putting forward something new every time. Apart from my regular favourites of Cup Cakes, Mousse and fruitcake this time they had Gajar Halwa & Kala Jamun Dry Cake, Maple Gateaux, Donuts, Mango Bavarian and a lot more. Not to forget the Indian dessert section. I also loved the Chocolava Cake that was offered by Chef Rishab.
I had quite a lot of it and I ended my happy meal day with waffle ice cream (De Waffle) which just brings cheer delight to almost every meal. Also, I am one such person who would enjoy ice cream in winters as well. (In spite of a bad throat.)
P.S. Don’t ask what happened next. *Facepalm*
